5 Must Follow Rules For Website Owners

5 must follow rules for website owners
Working online is great, however, I never said that it’s easy to own and manage a website effectively. While the general belief is that it is easier to save time if an individual works online, the reality is quite the opposite. Running a business online is equally time consuming as a physical business, if not more. A small mistake with the schedule can send an individual back by 5 or 6 hours! Website owners thus have to be connected to their work at all times. The global nature of websites means that the business never sleeps! In order for a website owner to be successful, he or she needs to keep a few things in mind. Today I will discuss a few Search Engine Optimization tips that can be of good use to website owners as they can aid the website owner to manage his or her website more effectively.

Keywords Matter:

IF you think you can overload a single page with keywords, you are mistaken. The general rule that you set for yourself should be that if more than 5 keywords can be used in the content on any single page, you need to split the page into two pages. DO NOT use too many keywords on the same page. In fact, one keyword per page ought to be sufficient for your website. In this case, your website’s chances of appearing as a search result increase in magnitude. It will also mean that your website will have more easily understandable content instead of content cluttered on a single page. This will further boost your website’s chances at appearing at the top of the search results.

Include the most important pages in high level navigation:

You know the importance of each and every page much better than anyone using your website. In order for the rankings of your website to go up, you need to make sure that it is very evident on your website that certain pages are the more important ones. Make sure that there are no ambiguities left in the minds of your website’s users when it comes to locating important and useful pages. You need to ensure that these pages are kept at high level navigation. You can include them at the footer if you want. Basically, anywhere the people visiting your site can see these pages for sure and clearly is a good place to put links for these pages.

Nothing but .com:

This subtitle may seem funny or even strange to you, however, it makes a lot of sense to me. Confused? Let me explain. You see, often we notice that the homepage of the site has a .com/html or .com/index link. While you may notice no harm in this, you may not even notice it at all, there is a huge problem that lies within this choice. Make sure that for your homepage, you choose nothing other than .com. the other options are there because of the fact that there are multiple versions of the same page. When a person enters a keyword into the search, the pages with .com/html or .com/index are less likely to pop up than pages that end at .com. that is the primary reason why .com links can be hard to get at times as well.

Meta descriptions and titles for every page:

Meta descriptions were once a very powerful tool for Search Engine Optimization. They no longer hold that same level of importance. However they aren’t that unimportant that you leave them out completely. They can still manage to help with the optimization of your page and can help get traffic directed to your page. Another important tool is the title that you select for every page. Make sure that every single page of yours has a good title. After all, the first impression one gets is the last impression! Catchy, attractive titles can help you greatly and your website will be successful. You can never control the search engine. However, you can control your own website in a manner that it gets impossible for search engines to ignore your website when someone searches for keywords that are mentioned on your page.

Combine pages:

If there are any pages that contain useless material, don’t clutter your website with them. If the content isn’t useful, it should not be there. Get rid of any excess pages in order to make sure that your website doesn’t look cluttered and remains relevant and useful for its users.
Follow these rules and you will be able to do well when it comes to the growth of your website. These tips will help you grow your website and maintain a good ranking with the search engines. This will help you agin popularity and traffic along with further growth opportunities for your website.
