How to add Default featured Image inside Posts in WordPress

Sometimes you might forget to set a featured image in a blog post resulting a bad impression because it will display an empty box especially when you share your posts in social networks like Facebook.

The simplest and easy solution to get rid out of this issue is to use Default Featured Image plugins available in With this plugin you can generate a default featured image for your blog posts and in any case if you forget to add featured image then default image will automatically replace its position.

How to Install WordPress Default Featured Image Plugin

Login to your WordPress Dashboard panel and navigate to Plugins tabs and open it. Now search for " Default Featured Image " and then install the plugin and activate it.

Once WordPress Default Featured Image Plugin is activated it will creates a new option in Settings panel
 Go to Settings >> Media to upload a default image.

Now Upload a default featured image using WordPress media uploader tool and Save Settings. You are done, in any case if you forget to set a default image in your blog posts then this plugin will automatically generate a default feature image for the particular post.

    I migrated my Blogger blog to WP with more than 800 posts. All of the posts were imported successfully BUT there are not feature images for them. Therefore I have to click on every single post and manualy select the Feature Image. there any way to use some plug in to do the work for me? I mean 800.....!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your reply

    1. Hi tea jurkovic, Yes there is a plugin that can set featured images of your posts automatically, Plugin name is Auto Featured Image and here is it's link:

      You can install and activate it and instruct the plugin to set the featured images for the posts. It will take some time to process, once finished, all the posts would have a featured image set.

      Please also note that the it sets the featured image based on the first image that it finds within the content for each post.
